The Calloway County Endowment for Health Care is hosting a two-session writing workshop at the Calloway County Public Library community meeting room on Thursday, November 3 and Thursday, November 17, from 6:30 to 7:45. Murray writer Constance Alexander will facilitate both sessions, and adults of all experience levels are invited. There is no charge, but participants need to register in advance and be available to attend both sessions.

Sign up at the library or contact Sandy Linn by November 1. The phone is 270-753-2288.
Sessions will include a combination of short warm-up writings and longer exercises focused on writing memoirs and personal narratives. Some specific techniques featured in the workshops include use of sensory description, dialogue, and characterization.

The workshop is one component of a grant to the Endowment entitled, “Hope & Glory: The Art of Inclusion.” Some of the writings that result from the workshops may be recorded for the radio and posted online. There are also preliminary plans to present a celebratory reading so writers can share their works with the public.

“Hope & Glory” is funded by an Arts Access Assistance Grant, made possible through the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
