MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Kayla Wathen, Occupational Therapist, as the March 2023 Employee of the Month, She was nominated by a coworker, Khadra Clayborn, Social Worker, for her help with a prior patient. Wathen works in the Rehab Department and the Acute Inpatient Rehab Unit and has been a part of the MCCH team for 8 years.

“Kayla took time to walk a panicked prior patient through getting out of her glider chair after being stuck and having all of her doors locked so no one could get in to help her. The patient had called asking to speak to a therapist and Kayla talked to her on the phone and gave her different techniques to use. The patient was finally able to stand up and get out of the glider chair. I was so impressed with Kayla’s ability to remain calm and talk the panicked patient through the steps to be able to get herself out of the chair,” said Khadra Clayborn, Social Worker.
