MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently held a retirement tea honoring Sherri Boyd, RN, Director of Hospice. Sherri has worked in Hospice at MCCH for 17 years. She also worked in home health for 15 years prior to coming to MCCH.

Sherri says this hospital and the hospice house has been like a second home to her. She graduated from Murray State University and worked briefly in Paducah before coming back to Murray to work for a local home health agency. After 10 years, she worked for Baptist Home Health in Paducah, where she stayed for 5 years before she accepted a position in Hospice at MCCH.  Sherri was a Hospice nurse for 4 ½ years and took the position of Hospice Coordinator which developed into the Hospice Director, and is where she has been for the last 13 years.  Sherri was instrumental in helping to open the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House and has been the Director of Hospice Services since it opened.

“This decision has been bitter-sweet truly.  I love being a hospice nurse and the Director of the Hospice House and not being here and involved will be so different. However, I am really excited and looking forward to retirement.  I have so many things that I want to do and now I will have the time to do it,” said Sherri.

Sherri said she is looking forward to spending time with her grandkids, Hunter 14, Addi 11, and Celeste 4. She also plans to spend some time with her mom, Mary Roberson and to get back into golfing with her husband, David.
