MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Shannon Colson as the December 2024 Employee of the Month. Colson is the Nursing Staff Coordinator for Nursing Administration.

“This is a wonderful hospital, and I’m honored, and I could not do what I do without support from such a wonderful team. I appreciate them so much,” said Shannon Colson.

Shannon is the glue that holds the nursing department together. She coordinates the schedules every 6 weeks, completes the daily staffing plans, handles covering call-ins, flex hours for staff, covering open shifts, payroll, daily staffing changes and much more. She does it all with a caring attitude and a smile on her face. She maintains her composure with all the staff and everyone she comes in contact with. She is our go to for anything that pertains to nursing administration.

Shannon often builds a good rapport with members of the nursing staff, always taking time to actually get to know the “face” behind the name texting the supervisor phone. She goes above and beyond to make sure time cards are correct, filling in holes as best as possible, all while answering questions from staff. She does it all with a smile on her face.
