Nearly 104 golfers and 20 sponsors helped raise approximately $21,000 for the 3D mammography project, Because She Matters, at the sixth annual Murray Calloway Endowment for Healthcare Golf Classic Friday, October 13, 2017 at Miller Golf Course.

The tournament, sponsored by David Taylor Chrysler, had teams playing in a scramble format, teeing off at either a morning or afternoon session. At the end of the day, it was the ACE DESIGN (Keith Buck, Josh Burks, Becky English and Brian Epperson) team who took home the top prize award of $500 with a score of 50. Lunch was catered and donated by Sirloin Stockade for all of the golfers in the tournament!

Other cash prize winners included: sixth place, The IMAC team; 13th place, Team Bell; 21st place, HFR; last place, Credit Bureau Systems team; more than $1700 in prize money was awarded.

“It was another great year at the tournament, with lots of familiar faces. We welcomed golf professional Patrick Newcomb, who recently qualified for the 2018 tour. He gave a free group lesson to our participants and everyone really enjoyed the golf, the great weather and Miller Golf Course,” said Keith Travis, Vice President of Development at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

The Because She Matters campaign has been launched to raise money for Tomosynthesis (3-D mammography) that will detect breast cancer earlier and more effectively. The initiative is set to raise $500,000 for the purchase of the equipment which would directly benefit patients within our community and surrounding area.
