Murray-calloway county hospital’s radiology
department receives acr accreditation

Murray-Calloway County Hospital’s Radiology Department has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation for Mammography from the American College of Radiology. The MCCH Radiology department also maintains ACR accreditation in their other services including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound.

“This benchmark represents our team’s ability to meet the highest standards of both image quality and patient safety.” says Heidi Hordyk., department chair of radiology at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. “ACR accreditation is another example of MCCH’s commitment to providing our patients with high quality care.”

The ACR gold seal of accreditation is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

Located in the South Tower, the Radiology Department at MCCH provides a full array of services with convenient hours, including x-ray, PET/CT and CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology. MCCH is also home to the Women’s Center, which is dedicated to the specialized health needs of women, such as mammography, bone density, ultrasound, and stereotactic biopsy.
