MCCH HOSTS REGIONAL APIC MEETING

The Murray-Calloway County Hospital Infection Control Department recently hosted the West Kentucky APIC #083 regional meeting. APIC is the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and is a national healthcare organization.  

APIC’s mission is to create a safer world through prevention of infection. The organization provides evidence-based, scientific, and proven resources to infection preventionists, healthcare professionals and patients. Valuable information and resources as provided by APIC are what infection porventionists use to maintain competency in the industry.
Each state has local APIC chapters. The West Kentucky chapter is known as West Kentucky APIC #083 and covers the state from the Purchase District to Litchfiled, KY. Hospitals throughout West Kentucky rotate hosting regional business meetings and education sessions.

Kathy Howard, LPN, Infection Proventionist at MCCH is serving as the president elect for the 2018-2019 year. Howard said, “I am honoured to serve or region through West Kentucky APIC, as well as educating the staff of MCCH to secure a safe environment for our patients and guests.”
