MURRAY-CALLOWAY COUNTY HOSPITAL HOSTING EVENTS IN JULY


Staff at Murray-Calloway County Hospital and the Center for Health & Wellness will be offering educational health promotion events during the month of July to community members, Wellness Center members and MCCH employees.


Center for Health and Wellness Summer Special running now until August 31.  $10.00 Joining Fee and No Contract.  Membership Includes:  Group Fitness Classes, Aquatic Classes, Cardio and Strength Training, Half Court Gymnasium, Exercise / Lap Pool, Fitness Assessment, Exercise Prescription and access to health promotion programs and classes.  Call 270.762.1348 for more information.

July 3, Benton Alzheimer Care Giver Support Group. The Alzheimer's & Other Dementia Support Group for Caregivers meets every 1st Wednesday of each month from 10:00-11:00 am in the Marshall County Public Library. This support group is designed with caregivers in mind, but all are welcome! Teresa Thompson is the facilitator. A variety of resource materials on Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias is available upon request. For more information, call 270.762.1224.


July 9, Parkinson's Disease Support Group. This group meets each month at 11:00 am (eat at 11:30 am) for lunch and the meeting at 12:00 pm (usually with a speaker) in the Kelleher Room of the Weaks' Senior Citizens Center--for more information call 270.753.0929. ​


July 9, Bariatric Support Group at 5:00 pm held at the Center for Health and Wellness, 716 Poplar Street in Murray. The Bariatric Support Group is for those who have undergone, or will be undergoing, bariatric surgery. Please call Bariatric Solutions at 270.762.1547 for more information.​​


July 11, Murray Alzheimer Care Giver Support Group. July 11, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Support Group, 6:00 pm at the MCCH Board Room. This support group is for anyone seeking support for ALS. This includes those who are diagnosed with ALS or friends and family of someone with ALS, as well as those who have lost someone to ALS. There is no cost and registration is not required. ​​​July 18, NAMI (Mental Illness) Support Group at 6:30 pm. This group is for family and friends of someone diagnosed with a mental illness such as bi-polar, major depression, schizophrenia, OCD, panic disorder, PTSD, or borderline personality disorder. July 18, Breastfeeding Support Group held at the Center for Health and Wellness from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm. This is a federal program that is funded by WIC. The support group offers mother to mother support, facts about Breastfeeding and breast milk, changes in the mother's body, how to build confidence, how to overcome obstacles, and support for working mothers. July 22, Stroke and Head Injury Support Group held at the MCCH Center for Health and Wellness from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. A supportive environment for families, or individuals, who have experience or who are currently experiencing, the life changing impacts of stroke or head injury to meet and share support. July 23, Breast Cancer Support Group held this month at Cracker Barrel in Murray at 5:30 pm. A place for those who have battled, or are currently battling breast cancer. Provides an opportunity to met with individuals who have had similar experiences in order to give and receive support. There is no cost and registration is not required. July 25, Dialysis Support Group. For patients or families of patients who are going through dialysis. The sessions are free and registration is not required.
