MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Katie Hoover, MSW, Hospice, as the May 2024 Employee of the Month. Social workers support those who are nearing the end of life as well as their families. Katie has been with the organization for two years and is described by her peers, as a compassionate individual who makes sure each person is cared for.

The following nomination was submitted on her behalf:

Katie has had a priceless impact in the short time she has been on staff with Hospice. She displays a sincere concern for patients and their families through a variety of avenues. First, she is a resource avenue for patients whether it be for financial needs at home or calling insurance companies to help implement long-term care policies for those coming into the Hospice House. Second, she assists in bereavement follow up with patients, making phone calls and facilitating grief recovery groups and one on one support. Third, she has grown the hospice volunteer staff to 15-20 individuals who want to make a difference for our patients and families. Going the extra mile is just every day practice for her. She has also organized a secret sister program for staff encouragement. Katie has flawless people skills, a constant smile and provides wonderful compassion to the families of those anticipating death and grief. The hospice team is grateful for her daily contributions to our team!
