Your Diet

You can select your meals from a menu based on the diet prescribed by your doctor.

Tell your nurse if you would like to talk to a dietitian about your hospital diet, cultural or religious food requirements or about healthy eating habits at home.

Insurance and Payment

Insurance plans often don’t provide full coverage for hospital bills. While you are fully responsible for your account with the hospital, we will cooperate completely in speeding up the processing of your claim.

You may be asked to pay the estimated balance of your bill not reimbursable by insurance.

Late Charges

Occasionally, there may be delayed charges which will not appear on your bill when you leave. When this happens, we will send you a statement including these delayed charges or credits as soon as possible.

Physicians Fees

Your bill won’t include charges from the independent physicians who provided services at the emergency room, your personal physician, surgeon, or consultants. These physicians will bill you directly.

Financial Questions: After you go home, you may have questions or concerns regarding your bill or arrangements for payment. Please call us at (270) 992-9170 for assistance.

For Your Safety

Hospital Staff will check your name, date-of-birth, and the barcode on your ID band often to make sure you receive the correct medicine and tests. Don’t hesitate to tell staff if you think they have confused you with another patient.

“Speak Up” to ask questions or voice concerns about your medicine, tests, or care. If you don’t understand, ask again.

Expect healthcare workers to identify themselves when they meet you and look for their ID badges.

Don’t be afraid to ask about safety. If you’re having surgery, for example, ask the doctor to mark the area that is to be operated on so that there’s no confusion in the operating room.

Unless otherwise advised, it is best not to get in or out of bed by yourself. Never hesitate to use the nurse call system for help.

The side rail on your bed may be raised to assist you to turn and provide access to the bed, TV controls, and nurse call system.

Medication errors are the most common healthcare mistakes. Unless your physician gives a specific order, do not take any medicines you brought with you from home. Send personal medicines home after your nurse obtains a list of them.

All money and items you value should be sent home with your family. Ask the nurse to help you with this. The hospital is not responsible for money or other valuables kept in your room.

Dentures should be placed in denture cups, never in regular drinking cups or paper towels. When not in use, hearing aids and eyeglasses should be placed in their cases. Do not leave these or other important personal items on your tray table or bedside cabinet. The hospital will not be responsible for their breakage or loss.

It is important for you to wash your hands often, especially after using the bathroom and before you eat. All this is done to prevent the possible spread of infection.

If you should have any concern during your stay please feel free to contact our Guest Services Department at (270) 762-1457 or (270) 762-1390.

Going Home

For your convenience, we have express checkout. Here are some easy steps to remember:

  1. Your physician writes a discharge order on your chart.
  2. A discharge slip is given to you to present at the cashier’s office.
  3. Nursing staff escorts you to your vehicle.
  4. You or the nurse present the discharge slip at the cashier’s office to settle your account. When this is completed, you are ready to go home.

Checking out by 1:00 p.m. will enable us to prepare the room for one of the many patients who are admitted each afternoon.
