MURRAY, KY – Stuart and Sheila Poston recently made a donation of $20,000 to the Foundation at Murray-Calloway County Hospital (MCCH) in support of the new Regional Cancer Center. Their donation was a naming opportunity for the fireplace located in the main lobby of the cancer center.

Mr. Poston was the previous CEO of MCCH from 1972-2000. His donation was made in honor of the Directors and leadership team in place during his tenure.

 “We are very pleased to make this donation to the Regional Cancer Center because it will serve many individuals not only in Calloway County but adjoining counties.

  This donation gave me the opportunity to honor the department managers who served during this period of rapid growth in the number of physician specialists and more expanded service from the early 1970’s to 2000.

 These individuals were responsible for the day-to-day operations and had to adjust to patient and physician demands.  Their varied backgrounds, education and talents had to bond to assure outstanding patient care.

  I’m personally proud of the service they provided during my tenure at MCCH; but, more importantly, the community was blessed with their service, skills, and dedication. They are my heroes, said Stuart Poston.”

The new cancer center will bring innovations and a new linear accelerator to fight 98% of cancers close to home. Located within the North Tower of MCCH off 8^th Street, the new center provides patients with convenient access to world-class cancer care. Thousands of patients will be cared for annually by a multidisciplinary team of specialists and sub-specialists to meet the challenges presented by more than 20 different types of cancer.
